Over on Bubbly Funk we had a Cyber Crop a couple of weeks ago. I printed/saved all the projects, but have only had chance to make one up to now - and that's only because I needed it for a pressie.

this is a little gift bag - instructions very kindly provided by Sue (thanx)

I mucked it up a little bit and therefore it's smaller than it should be - but it worked ok coz it's only got a small pressie in it!

I fully intend to make other things from the crop and will let you see them when I eventually have a go!

anyone who knows our family will know that Snowy is our dog. She was a rescue dog and we have had her for just over 2 years. and she is thoroughly spoilt rotten!!

Altho she has her own toy box full, in fact overflowing, with toys, Carl decided she had to have a new one. and here it is:

weekend away

Last weekend, Daniel and I went away for the weekend (and left Carl and Snowy at home!)

we went on a bus trip to CadburyWorld (mmmmm chocolate!!), and then a safari park on the Sunday.

We had a great time and altho it was abit strange without Carl, it was nice to have a mother/son weekend.

here are a couple of pictures from the safari park, including the white lions, white tigers, a giraffe licking dew from the top of a jeep and some 'rude' turtles!! (Daniel said I had to put the last one on!!)

OMG!!! - how long is it since I blogged!!! I can't possibly share everything I've done since June!!! so just a few photos and an 'ickle bit of info!

Our summer hols this year consisted of a week at Carl's mam and dad's caravan at Haltwhistle - the reasons for this is that Carl's holidays and Daniel's holiday activities clashed!! We had a great time tho and had a few days out - one of which was at Bowness on Windermere in the Lake District and here's a couple of photos of 'my family' from there

It was our 16th wedding anniversary yesterday, and we said we wouldn't buy for each other. but when Carl came home from work on Thursday night, he handed me 3 presents!! ( he always does this - you'd think I'd have learnt by now!!)

Inside the presents, were a handbag, a purse and an umbrella - all with a little doggy on them.

I'd wanted a bigger Radley so I could use it every day ........ and now I have one!!

I made him a necklace (a piece of suede with 3 black beads on). he seems to like it and it hasn't come off his neck since - but I felt a bit guilty.

Just thought I'd let you see Stumpy with eyes!! he looks so much better!! I nearly lost him on Thursday - I thought Ishould really let mam see him as she knitted him, so I took him with me when I left for work. It was soo hot in the car, I couldn't leave him there all day, so I took him in the office. Several people took a liking to him and wanted to take him home. However, he decided he was happy living with us.

Stumpy

I'm loving the knitted monkeys that Kaz over on Bubbly Funk knits and she knitted one for Daniel.
Anyway, my mam had a operation on her foot recently and was bored. As she is a knitter I obtained the monkey pattern from Kaz and presented it to my mother with some wool. A few weeks later she gave me a bag full of knitted pieces and said ' I knitted the blooming thing, I'm not sewing it up!!'

and so he sat in a bag for a few weeks.

then last week when I was off work I decided to sew him up. - not sure whether mam went a bit wrong on the pattern or whether it was the wool I picked, but my monkee is very fat with short legs!!

and now I introduce ' Stumpy'
You will also notice that he is blind at the minute, that is because I can't decide whether hes hould have stick on 'google' eyes or sewn eyes. I am not sure which he would suit better.

So there you go, that is my Stumpy Monkee!!

Altered Item

I tend to slightly alter things, but am always worried about going overboard. However, when I look at things that others have altered, I love them!!

When I visited Rosie's blog recently she is offering some blog candy for reaching 10,000 visitors (well done Rosie!!) This time she is challenging people to 'alter' something, so after winning some fabby stuff in Rosie's last blog candy, I thought I'd get my thinking cap on!

and this is what I found to alter (not sure if it counts tho!)

The reasoning behind this is, my rapidly increasing weight!!

I was a member of Weight Watchers and managed to lose a stone and a half! but when all my 'probems' at work started, I more or less gave up. I was still paying the money,but not going to get weighed coz I'd been 'naughty' Therefore I cancelled my membership. I had a posh set of glass scales on the floor in my bedroom, but because they were on the carpet, they didn't weigh properly, so I asked my dad for some wood to stand them on. The wooden board is what he gave me!

I soon decided I didn't really fancy the idea of the board in my bedroom as you would be able to seei t thru the scales. So outcame my stash and this is what I came up with.

I was quite chuffed actually and Carl said if the wood had been a bit straighter he would have put it on the wall!!

some girls at work were laughing at me when I ordered the June kit off Bubbly Funk this week. They said I keep buying craft stash, admiring it and then sticking it in a drawer! Although this is absolutely true at the moment, I was determined to prove them wrong!!

Actually, the first one is an anniversary card someone at work asked me to make a few weeks ago and I forgot I'd taken a photo, so thought I'd include that one too.

Quite surprise myself actually coz I just picked up random things from my stash and took it down stairs to use. I was determined I wasn't going back upstairs until I'd finished! I obviously chose the right stuff!

Scarborough

We didn't do much apart from walk around the shops, go to the castle and the Sea Life Centre and get VERY wet when it rained! so there's not that much to blog!

However, it was a nice change and we all enjoyed ourselves.

We received a text message from our friends Billy and Jeanie at the beginning of the week, asking us if we wanted to go and meet the new addition to their family. Now I knew it wasn't a baby, and I don't think they're cat people, so it could only be one other thing..........

this is Daisy!!! an 8 week old Westie puppy!! and isn't she gorgeous!! (she makes our Snowy look HUGE!!, in fact she's smaller than some of Snowy's toys!!)

thought Rosie might like to see these piccies, as I'm sure it will bring back memories of 'baby' Maisie!

going away to Scarborough tomorrow for the weekend, so will hopefully remember to take some photos and also to blog them!!

My nephew and his wife have had a baby boy!! they live in Macclesfield so I haven't seen him 'in the flesh' yet, but have seen loads of photos.
My parents were going to visit this weekend, so I decided to make my first scrapbook page, and frame it for them. I also did a card for them.

My nephew is mad on Star Wars, so I bet you can't guess what they have called their son!
yes, you're right - may I present to you: LUKE XANDER SNOWBALL!! (and yes, Snowball IS their surname!)

My mum phoned tonight, and said he is as gorgeous in real life, I feel a trip to Macclesfield coming on very soon!!

my crafty 'mojo' is slowly returning, in small bursts!

I decided I would do a scrap book, and got as far as making the front cover, and some blank pages to go inside:

I chose the photos I wanted to scrap and put them on a disc to take to my local 'Klick' shop. (my printer isn't clever enough to get decent prints!). put them on the machine in the shop and 'faffed' about with them, then printed them! and nearly died when I saw how big they had printed (7" x 5"). my scrap book is only 8x8!! I then learned that they have new machines in Klick that printed bigger, as well as the older ones. I was too embarrassed to do them again in a smaller size! I'll go to Asda next week instead!

I also made a birthday card for my pal that I've known since first school. Haven't seen her for years, but still keep in regular contact. I am going to make a point of going to visit her this year!

altho I say my 'mojo' has returned, it has only returned in limited quantities! I have discovered 'blooms', and all my cards seem to have a VERY similar theme at the mo!! never mind,I'm sure it will return properly soon

Junior crafters

Over on the Bubbly Funk forum, they get up to all sorts of stuff!! some I join in and most I don't! However, in October last year, it was decided to hold a Junior CJ, for the children of us bubblies to take part in (I am NEVER enrolling Daniel in anything else - kicks up the bum needed EVERY month!)

Anyway, the finished/completed article arrived a couple of weeks ago, and we are really pleased with it! these kids are really talented! here are the pictures of Daniel's CJ called 'My Favourite Holiday!

WESTLIFE!!!

I am a big(ish) Westlife fan. I've been to their concerts every year for the past few years, and last night they were back in the North East!!!!! and I was there, 10 rows from the front!!!

I only went to 1 concert this year, due to Carl's' shifts and babysitters. (I usually go twice!!)

(Last year we were also nearer the front - not that I'm complaining!)

We have an aquarium at Tynemouth near us, and at half term, Daniel and I decided to pay a visit. We've been before but now they have seals!! We got there in time to watch the otters being fed as well. great fun to watch them with their little white mice for lunch!!

I'm not very good at this blogging thing, am I?

anyway a couple of weeks ago, the Ark Royal paid a visit to the North East, and it was open to the public. So we set off on a Saturday morning, ready to queue up to get on. Luckily we only Had to wait for about 20 mins once it had opened. Unfortunately, all that was open was the hanger, and basically, I think it was a recruitment exercise for the Royal Navy. Once inside the hanger, there were small 'stalls' set up showing what each part of the Navy did. We enjoyed it tho, and here are a couple of pics.

Happy New Year to all....... I know it's abit late, but you know me and my regular blogging - NOT!!!

Anyway, hope you all had a good new year. We did. was quite a quiet one - went to our friends for the evening and played on the Wii and party games, then crashed on the sofas. Took Daniel with us as well, but Snowy went to her Grandma's, as she's not too happy with lots of people.

We bought a new car last week aswell. I'll be keeping my little old Micra, but we traded the Citroen in for a Vauxhall Zafira! it's not brand new, but won't be a year old until the end of this month. I'll take some piccies when I get round to it.

Was on the sick from work with some sort of stomach bug at the beginning of last week, and went back to work on the Wednesday. BIG mistake!!!! I then caught the flu bug, and am now off again! will probably stay off the rest of the week now - I know I'll get a sick warning from work, but don't want to risk ANOTHER bug, if I go back too early! was feeling a little bit better for some of today, so I stuck together my birthday book. and here it is:

I also received a diary in the post from the lovely Di O from the Bubbly Funk Forum, and decided it would be my 'crafting diary'. So that's been altered and here it is:

Hi to all. Hope you all had a great Christmas and that Santa was good to you.

I got thoroughly spoilt by Carl this year - he always buys me jewellery as a surprise, but really excelled himself this year!!

These gorgeous things were on top of the DVD's, CD's, perfume, etc, etc, that I got aswell. Just LOVE HIM!!!

Anyway, Daniel was over the moon with his XBox360 and games, and other stuff. And although I didn't get Carl as much as he got me, he was happy with his 'Name a Star' gift, among other things!

We had Christmas Day as a family this year, with short present swapping visits from the parents. Then everyone landed for Boxing Day tea!

Both Carl and I were at work on Thursday, and Carl again today, but then we are both off until next Wednesday.

If I don't get chance to blog again this year, hope everyone has a great New Year - see you all in 2008!!!!

YAY!!! It was my birthday today!! I had a day off work and Carl and I had a lazy morning wandering around garden centres, then I put up the xmas decs this afternoon.

Birthday Boy!!

Yesterday was Daniel's 12th Birthday!!!!

Looking back 12 years to when he was born 12 weeks early, weighing only 2 lb 11oz, we never thought he would get to this stage! I know I'm biased, but he's a lovely lad and we are all SOOOOO proud of him!

As a surprise for Daniel's birthday we bought him a Robosapien. There was a special offer on in Argos (or a pricing mistake!!) and we got version 2 for the same price as version 1!!! IT'S GREAT!!!! (the dog's not too keen tho!) As you can see, it's taller than the coffee table!! Just need to learn all the buttons to press on the remote control now tho!

Daniel is off to Quasar Laser tomorrow for a little partywith 3 of his friends. I'll blog some pictures, if I remember to take my camera!

I started Weight Watchers in August, and have been doing quite well with my weight loss. On Monday I lost another 3 pounds, which makes a total of 1 stone, 5 and 1/2 pounds!!! (only another 2 and 1/2 stones to go!!!

But, I also got this award:

this means that I have now lost 10% of my starting weight!!!

I'm really pleased with myself.

I need some new, smaller, clothes, but am reluctant to buy any yet, coz they won't fit within a few months!!.

hello to all my blogging pals!!! I've finally got something to say!!!
A few weeks ago, we decided to go to Alnwick Castle. It was a nice day out and here are a few pix:

Yesterday, we went back to Alnwick, but this time we went to Alnwick Gardens. It is owned and designed by The Duchess of Northumberland, and well worth a visit. Although there wasn't many flowers out, it is still a beautiful place. Also, because it was November, it was quiet.

Here are a few pix from yesterday:

this photo is of 'The Treehouse'. It holds a restaurant, bar and several nice places to just sit and chill.

We tried to go in the restaurant but it was fully booked. We will definately pay a visit in the future tho, as the idea of a meal beside a 'real' fire appeals!

A major feature of the Gardens, is 'The Grand Cascade'. Here is are a couple of photos:

the fountains do a different show every 30 minutes. these show two of the things they do.

there are also several other water features, some of which are good for taking 'arty' photos. here are a couple:

these are both Carl's attempts at 'photography' - not bad!!

(please note Daniel's new hand puppet - 'the Mole'. he said I had to let you know!!)

finally, there is also a 'Poison Garden'. This garden is kept behind locked gates, to stop people pinching plants. The garden contains everything from Cannabis to Rosemary, which apparently can be poisonous if eaten in great qualitities!

A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all!!

I think that's probably enough for this blog, sorry it went on abit, I'll try to do it more often in future! (yeah right, heard that one before!!!!)

Fat, purple, Foot!!

I got woken up this morning at 3.30am, by my hubby Carl being brought home from work, after a trip to casualty. He'd run over his foot with a hand-held fork lift!!!!!(OW!!!) and consequently has a FAT, PURPLE FOOT!!! no bones broken thanks to steel toe-capped work boots, but quite severe soft tissue injuries. off work for a couple of days, then a long weekend and he's going back to work on Tuesday, probably to do light duties. I'll keep you all posted! (if I remember!)

I never feel like I've got anything interesting to say that anyone will want to read!

Anyway, I've been on my hols, and I've got NO photos coz I forgot to take the charger for the camera and when I went to take a piccie, the battery was dead!! We went to Silloth on the West coast of Cumbria, and had a fab time. Weather was mixed, but still managed to get sunburnt!! It all seems like a distant memory now!

Had a couple of days off with Daniel this week and decided to 'be a tourist' in our home city of Newcastle. We went on a city sightseeing tour - it was great fun. Daniel learnt loads and I learnt some stuff too. here are a few pix I took.

For anyone who doesn't know, the 1st pic is the Millenium Bridge, the 2nd is the Sage building, which is 'the International Home for Music and musical discovery'. 3rd pic is the Tyne bridge with the other stuff in the background, 4th is a side view of the Millenium Bridge, and the last one is the castle keep in Newcastle.

I am quite chuffed how the pics came out, as we were on a moving bus at the time.

I can recommend these tours to anyone, even in your home town, it's amazing the stuff you don't know about where you live. For example, there is a theatre near to the RVI hospital, that used to be a pharmacy. The staff at the hospital asked the pharmacy to make a drink that would help patients get their strength back. They made the drink and named it 'Glucoze-aid', later to be changed to 'Lucozade'. Also the RVI, or the Royal Victoria Infirmary, to give it it's full title, is named after Queen Victoria (even though it was opened 5 years after her death), and owns several pairs of Queen Victoria's bloomers. The reason being that all buildings named after her, got a piece of her clothing when she died!!

Anyway I'm going to go now, before I bore you all with useless, but interesting, facts about Newcastle.

I'll try not to leave it as long next time.

week off

well, it's the last day of my week off with Daniel. It's been lovely, think I could get used to not working! we haven't done that much, just pottered about.

We went out as a family last weekend and took Carl's mum with us. We went to Hartlepool Maritime Experience, which was very interesting. They have little replica shops set up around a small dock. There are people in period costume and some of them fire muskets and cannons at regular intervals. There is a large ship, the HMS Trincomalee, which is Britain's oldest warship afloat. Here's a couple of pictures:

I could have been a sailor on it because I'm only small, but Carl couldn't even stand fully upright in some of it!! Those sailors must of been little guys!

Took Daniel to see Pirates of the Caribbean on Tuesday - very good! (it also features 2 of my fav actors so that's a HUGE bonus!!)

Thursday saw the three of us going swimming at our new Sports centre. (well I just stood there, coz I can't swim!!) We had a swimming pool until about 3 years ago, but it was very dated, and cold! They closed it down because the foundations were not safe. But we now have a state-of-the-art leisure centre, with all brand new stuff. Very nice. The gym is almost enough to make me want to join - notice I said ALMOST!! I might do a couple of classes tho.

right I'm off to iron now, before we go away for the weekend tomorrow.

Star Wars

We all like Star Wars in our House (sad, I know!), particularly Daniel. Anyway, last year, we discovered a little shop in an Indoor market near us, that specialised in Star Wars stuff. We began to visit it regularly. Last weekend, Alex (the lad that owns the stall), opened a proper shop!!! And yesterday, we went along as he had some visitors, and we had our piccies taken with them!

These 'Stormtroopers' are members of a group called 'The UK Garrison, 501st Battalion'. (Apparently, the 501st Battalion is the name of the Stormtroopers who served Darth Vader in the film) . In order for someone to join this group, they must have exact replica costumes. They are all volunteers and do the visits for charity - Alex had a raffle and was donating some of this takings. It seemed like a great time was had by all and did wonders for Alex's shop.

Daniel has his SATs this week. At least 2 every day this week. Think it really is alot to put on them at 11 years old, particularly those who are abit less able. I know Daniel's school has been running booster classes for those who need them, but still think it's abit much. I don't think Daniel will have any problems tho, infact, he said he's looking forward to them - strange child! I'll keep you all up to date with how he gets on.

Anyway, I'm off shopping at the Metro Centre today, so I suppose I should get ready. BYEEEE!

I must really get into the habit of this blogging lark - I keep forgetting!

Anyway, following on from my post at the end of March - our Ice Hockey team won a trophy!!!

Here they are with the cup!! Me and Daniel were really pleased for the lads as they deserve it after all the hard games they've played.

It was 'Bring your Children to Work' day last Friday at work, so Daniel came to see what I get up to every day. He had a great time, although it was a long day for him, coz typically, I had loads to do!.

At Daniel's school, they have nominated children who have a flair and interest in a particular subject, to attend an Advanced Learning Course. Daniel was nominated for the History course. It is held at Segedunum Roman Fort in Wallsend (which is where Hadrian's Wall ends, for those of you who don't know!), with history teachers and an archeologist. The first one was Saturday morning, and he was full of it when he came back. It's on for 10 weeks, so it should be really interesting for him.

I had to go and order a new fridge freezer today - our old one hasn't died yet, but it's seriously ill! It only works when on the highest setting, which consequently freezes everything in the fridge!! just hope it will last until Tuesday when the new one arrives.

right I'm off now, and I know I said it in my last post, but I'll try not to leave it so long the next time.

How long is it since I've blogged - AGES!!!!

What has happened since then? Well, there was my second Westlife concert - ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!! as usual. Unfortunately, none of photos came out very well - never mind.

then a couple of days off. Then at Easter our great friends, The Guthries arrived!! we had a fabulous weekend with them, and hope to not leave it as long before the next time we see them (it was over a year this time!!) We took them to Hadrian's Wall on the Saturday and Tynemouth Priory on the Sunday. here is a picture of the Priory.

There was also lots of chatting. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend and were sad to see them go home on Sunday evening. (Although I'm not sure if Snowy enjoyed her weekend as she met Maisy, Rosie and Will's dog, who 'just wanted to play'!! but Snowy was having none of it!!)

Back to work on the Tuesday and then on the Thursday I took Daniel to see Starlight Express. He loved it! I've seen it before but it was just as good second time around.

and finally, today me and Daniel went to get a Siamese Fighting Fish for his fish tank.

it's really pretty, and brightens up the tank. Plus we also got some greenery and a tank light.

Boy Bands

just got back from the first of 2 Westlife concerts I'm going to (next one is tomorrow!!)

A brilliant concert as usual, can't wait for tomorrow as our seats our 4 rows from the front!!

I'm off work now aswell until after Easter. Shopping at Metrocentre tomorrow, housework on Thursday, then the Guthries are coming for the weekend (YAH HOO!)

haven't been here for a while, been full of busy, (and full of cold!!).

had a couple of sick days this week when the cold caught up with me - although I think it brought a few of it's friends to stay too!!

Speaking of having friends to stay, our good friends The Guthries are visiting us at Easter. We can't wait , as we haven't seen them for a year!!! Roll on next Friday.

Well, my Sunday nights are now my own until September. No more Ice Hockey! It was the last home game on Sunday and a Testimonial game last night. Our Player/coach, Simon, is emigrating to Australia to play over there. It was a great night, with lots of OLD faces playing. We've just got the play off finals to go now, but they are both away games. Lets hope we can get some silverware for Simon.

Me and Daniel are huge Ice Hocley fans and support our local team. It was the league fina last night,against our local rivals - we had to win or draw to win the league!!

After a very exciting game, and lots of shouting, singing and chanting - WE LOST!!!!!

We were both gutted, although we had enjoyed the game and were proud of our team! I honestly thought Daniel was going to cry!!!!

Never mind - I suppose it's only a game!!!

Man Flu!!!

Man Flu has hit the Wright household!!!

I joke, but Carl really isn't well!! he's been on 12 hour night shifts all week, so he's knackered, and then the Man Flu hit him!!! he's been in bed all day today with a raging temperature, but he got up earlier and looks abit better. but, when his cold and flu tablets wear off, he's back to square one!! Hopefully it won't last too long, and he won't pass it on to me or Daniel.

Managed to get a couple of cards made today, between shopping, baking and sorting out Daniel and his cousin, who came to stay. I decided I would have a go at Iris Folding, and I must admit I could be hooked. here's a couple of pix of the 2 cards I made.

Half Term Hols

it's half term here in rainy North East this week, and I'm off for a couple of days with Daniel.

Today we went to the Blue Reef Aquarium, which was very interesting, (and very full aswell, coz I think the whole of the North East was there!!!)

We then went to a place called 'Paint Pots'. It's one of those places where you pick a blank plate, mug, etc, and paint it!! You then leave it there for them to glaze and fire it, and then you go back a few days later to pick it up. Daniel painted a mug, and I painted a small plant pot, which wil be used to store pens on my desk. It cost us a fortune, but was good fun and wasted a couple of hours.
I'll post some pix when we get the stuff back.

Staying in tomorrow, or maybe just a wander around the shops - Daniel did what he wanted today, my turn tomorrow!!!!!

I was third in command on my section, but someone's leaving next week, which makes me second in command!!!!

My boss is hardly ever there as he has lots of other things to do - so guess who'll be in charge - starting from Monday!!!!!

This is Snowy, our dog.

We got her from the kennels in June when Carl changed his job. I'd never had a dog before and wasn't sure how I'd take to her - but wouldn't be without her now!!!

We think she's 3 and we're not sure of her history. She's very nervous around strangers and other dogs, but very loving when she knows you.

here's my lovely husband, Carl and son, Daniel.

Carl and I have been married for almost 15 years, after meeting each other drunk outside a Chinese takeaway!!!

Daniel is our pride and joy. Especially after his bad start in life - he was born 10 weeks premature, weighing only 2lbs 11oz!!! As you can see now, he is fully recovered and no-one suspects the start he had.

thought about doing this Blog stuff for a while now, but never got round to it. So what better time to start than 12.44 am on a Saturday morning!!!!!

I'm not really a 'little dragon', and for all those of you that know me, you'll know where that comes from!! But, for those of you that don't, I'll let you know - I collect Pocket Dragons, just like this one. (he's called 'I smell chocolate', so he's very like me!!) Unfortunatley, the company that make these little cuties, don't any more!! so I'll be relying on old stock in shops and good old ebay!!
